M2M creates new opportunities in business by bringing value-added services in conventional applications. Applications in traditional developments are limited to serve for the productivity of the process. M2M by taking advantages of the most advanced digital technologies in national infrastructure can take care of other areas of customer satisfaction. This session would discuss the trends and applications in M2M technologies deployed in various sectors. Guest speakers present the key elements in M2M applications and share experience from projects. Participants are expected to learn, as well as discuss what are the issues and hurdles to overcome in recent M2M deployments.

The M2M technology is the umbrella name for connecting sensors and related controllers embedded in the industrial machines to facilitate information exchange and to certain extend performing control function with or without human intervention. M2M was promoted by SIAA in Singapore since 2003 after the mission and papers presented at the M2M conference in Dallas Taxas. This presentation is focusing on the M2M application in Service Economy by adopting traditional industrial technologies and concepts. Business opportunities and challenges facing the M2M adoption will be discussed with suggested action taken by the players in addressing R&D, technology, government policy, culture and cost.
