No Free Rides - The Good and Bad of Convergence. Convergence is potentially a huge benefit to businesses and enterprises, allowing them to host all their services - whether IT, communications, controls, video or security - on common platforms, running on common protocols. The commercial advantages are clear; however, in order to squeeze maximum advantage from convergence, one must also understand the risks associated with it - commercial, operational and security. This talk will discuss technological risk generally and go on to focus on the specific risk associated with convergence. It will highlight the need to establish an acceptable level of risk and explore the mitigation measures which may be applied to produce that acceptable level.
